Vplnews, Aligarh, August 11: The Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today in a meeting with the chairpersons of various Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) departments made it clear that indiscipline or chaos will not be tolerated in JNMC or elsewhere in the campus.
The resolution adopted by the new office bearers of the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has been declared illegal by the Vice Chancellor who reiterated that AMU is committed to patronise democratically elected associations and unions.
The university maintains that there has never been any interference in the functioning of the RDA. However, it was only after the resignation of the Chief Election Officer (CEO) concerned with the RDA elections that the University decided to appoint a three-member enquiry committee to investigate the situation which declared the RDA elections as null and void.
Prof Tabssum Shahab will now be the head of a five-member committee to conduct a new election process for various RDA posts. He informed: The last date of nominations is August 14, 2017, while the last date of withdrawal of nominations is August 16, 2017 and that the polling for RDA posts will be on August 19, 2017 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and the counting will start from 5:00 pm onwards followed by result declaration.
Meanwhile, Professor M Amamullah Khan (Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal and CMS, JNMC) has urged students to maintain conducive atmosphere during the elections and to follow university rules.
